FIT Scheme

The Film in Tasmania (FIT) Scheme is designed to encourage and assist interstate and international productions to locate a project wholly or partly in Tasmania and to provide Tasmanians with employment and training opportunities on those projects.

There are two elements to the FIT Scheme:

  1. Island to Island Rebate
  2. Creative Tasmanians Attachment Subsidy

Island to Island Rebate

The Island to Island Rebate is designed to neutralise the cost disadvantage to offshore productions of shooting in Tasmania, and to encourage and assist inbound production into the state.

Assistance is provided in the form of a rebate to productions to recover the additional costs of transporting film equipment to and from Tasmania. The total Island to Island Rebate payable to any one production is capped at $20,000.

Creative Tasmanians Attachment Subsidy (CTA)

The Creative Tasmanians Attachment Subsidy (CTA) is designed to create employment and training opportunities for Tasmanian production crew on interstate and international productions filming in Tasmania.

Assistance is provided in the form of a subsidy to a production to encourage the employment of Tasmanian attachments in key creative roles. Successful applicants will be able to access $1,000 per week, a minimum 50% of which must be paid as wages to the attachment. The remainder can be utilised by the production to negate accommodation and other incidental costs to the production of having the attachment in place. The total CTA Subsidy payable to any one attachment is capped at $15,000; the total payable to any one production is capped at $30,000.
